       What is the highest altitude wind farm in the world?


  在藏东人迹罕至的高原山区,20架银白色的风车迎风旋转,一组95米长的叶片每转动一圈,就能发出9.5度电!

       In the unfrequented plateau mountains of eastern Tibet, 20 silver-white windmills  spin in the wind, and a set of 95-meter-long blades can emit 9.5 degrees of electricity every turn!

  这座风电场位于西藏八宿县平均海拔5050米处,由大唐西藏能源开发有限公司、昌都市康电清洁能源投资发展集团有限公司投资建设。自1031日投产以来,截至12108时,它已累计发电超2242万千瓦时。

 The wind farm, located at an average altitude of 5,050 meters in Badu County, Xizang Province, was invested by Datang Tibet Energy Development Co., Ltd. and Qamdo Kangdian Clean Energy Investment and Development Group Co., LTD. Since it was put into operation on October 31, as of 8:00 on December 10, it has generated more than 22.42 million KWH of electricity.

 “过去县城经常停电,近年来供电越来越稳定。”风电场运维技术员洛松泽仁就是八宿县人,他记忆中家家户户要准备油灯的场景,如今已不复存在。

 "There used to be frequent power outages in the county seat, but the power supply has become more stable in recent years." Wind farm operation and maintenance technician Luo Songzawa Ren is from Badu County, his memory of every household to prepare the oil lamp scene, now no longer exist.

  这座年发电量达2.23亿千瓦时的风电场,可满足约23万人全年生活用电。项目负责人徐其多介绍,产生的电能并入昌都片区电网,大部分本地消纳,保供当地电力需求。

 The wind farm, which can generate 223 million kilowatt-hours of  electricity annually,can meet th  e annual domestic electricity consumption of about 230,000 people. Project leader Xu Qiduo introduced that the generated electricity is incorporated into the power grid of Qamdo District, most of which are consumed locally and guaranteed for local power needs.

 “这20架风车,每年可节约标煤约7.31万吨,减排二氧化碳约18.28万吨。”中国人民大学生态环境学院教授石磊说。

 "These 20 windmills can save about 73,100 tons of standard coal and reduce about 182,800 tons of carbon dioxide every year." Said Shi Lei, a professor at the School of Ecology and Environment at Renmin University of China.

  在超高海拔建风电项目,有什么优势?

 What are the advantages of building wind power projects at ultra-high altitudes?

  海拔3500米至5500米的地带被称为超高海拔地区,这里是风能资源的“富矿”。

 The zone between 3,500 meters and 5,500 meters above sea level is called the ultra-high altitude area, which is the "rich mine" of wind energy resources.

  据估算,西藏风能资源在7/秒以上的区域约占全区面积30%,主要分布在海拔4800米以上高山地区,技术可开发量约1.8亿千瓦。八宿风电场周边的邦达草原,曾被测得38/秒的瞬时风速,等效于13级大风。

 It is estimated that Tibet's wind energy resources above 7 m/s account for about 30% of the total area of the region, mainly distributed in alpine areas above 4,800 m above sea level, and the technical development capacity is about 180 million kilowatts. The Bangda Grassland around the Basu wind farm has been measured at an instantaneous wind speed of 38 meters per second, equivalent to a force 13 gale.

  西藏清洁能源发电量占比超99%,居全国第一;但其中水电、光电分别约占五成和四成,风电目前尚不足一成。

 Clean energy accounts for more than 99 percent of Tibet's electricity generation, ranking first in China. However, hydropower and photoelectric account for about 50% and 40% respectively, and wind power is still less than 10%.

  然而在这里“向风要电”,对技术和设备提出更高要求:空气密度过低会引起机组失速,低气压会降低电气绝缘性能,高紫外线会加速部件老化,高湍流、风速风向变化大不易评估……

 However, the "wind to power" here puts higher requirements on technology and equipment: too low air density will cause the unit to stall, low air pressure will reduce the electrical insulation performance, high ultraviolet light will accelerate the aging of components, high turbulence, wind speed and wind direction changes are not easy to eva luate...

  让风电稳稳挺进超高海拔地区,靠什么?

 Let the wind power steadily into the ultra-high altitude area, by what?

  答案是技术创新。

 The answer is technological innovation.

  八宿风电场这批“高原风车”单机容量为5兆瓦,是业内在超高海拔地区使用的最大值。“一个多月来的平稳运行,让它在超高海拔地区的可靠性得到进一步验证。”徐其多说。

 The single- unit capacity of these "plateau windmills" at Bajuu Wind Farm is 5 MW, which is the  largest used in the industry in ultra-high altitude areas."The smooth operation for more than a month has further verified its reliability at ultra-high altitudes." Xu Qiduo said.

  这20台双馈型风力发电机组正是“高原定制”,由中车株洲电力机车有限公司针对高海拔、高寒地区特点设计研发,能在强紫外线、高雷暴频次、频繁降雪的极端环境中保障电气安全。

These 20 double-fed wind trubinese are "customized for the plateau" , designed and developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. for the characteristics of high altitude and cold regions, which can ensure electrical safety in extreme environments with strong ultraviolet light, high frequency of thunderstorms and frequent snowfall.

  而日常运维这些巨大风车,仅需810人。

 Daily operation and maintenance of these huge windmills require only eight to 10 people.

  在距离风电场1小时车程的中控室,电场运维实现高度智能化。通过屏幕,洛松泽仁可实时监测所有风机的瞬时风速、瞬时发电功率和累计发电量;点击单台风机详情,叶轮转速、发电机转速、风向、机舱角度等参数一目了然。

 In the central control room, which is 1 hour away from the wind farm, the electric field operation and maintenance is highly intelligent.  “发展风电形成的多能互补格局,可以弥补西藏枯水季水电不足、夜间光电缺失形成的空白。”石磊说。

       202310月,山南市的西藏措美哲古风电场二期项目全容量并网发电;今年11月,日喀则市的中核萨迦30万千瓦风光储一体化项目全容量并网发电……近年来,西藏多个风电项目向超高海拔地区发起挑战,最高机舱海拔均超5100米。

 In October 2023, the second phase of Tibet's Cuomeizhegu Wind Farm in Shannan City will be connected to the grid for full capacity power generation. In November this year, the Central nuclear Sakya 300,000 kW wind storage integration project in Shigatse City was connected to the grid for full capacity power generation... In recent years, a number of wind power projects in Xizang have challenged ultra-high altitude areas, with the highest cabin altitude exceeding 5,100 meters.

     一个个“高风”项目的故事背后,是我国在超高海拔风电开发的“技术树”上奋力攀登,是西藏在加快清洁能源发展、优化能源结构上破浪乘风。
