The conversion project is the result of a collaboration between North Sea Shipbuilding and McDermott to convert two Moss LNG carriers into offshore Floating storage units (FST), an innovative energy storage solution that will support the energy supply of British Columbia, Canada. The converted facility is expected to be towed to Squamish, making an important contribution to the development of green energy for ships.
The main engineering contents of the project include steel structure modification, piping modification, painting work, electrical system modification, MOSS tank maintenance and tank insulation renovation, as well as pre-commissioning and commissioning work. The successful undertaking of the project is a major progress for Beihai Shipbuilding in the field of green new energy ship conversion, and has laid a solid foundation for its entry into the international ocean engineering conversion market.
At the first steel plate cutting ceremony, representatives of North Sea Shipbuilding, Pacific Energy, and McDermott delivered speeches, jointly showing their confidence in the project team, and committed to taking this as a new starting point to ensure the smooth progress of the project, achieve common goals, and work together to create a more brilliant future.
