About the Summit
With countries in the Asia Pacific region and elsewhere including Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Russia, Australia, PNG, Thailand, Indonesia, South Africa, Singapore getting into different stages of planning and operations in the LNG sector, many countries in Africa and the Middle East such as Angola, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Egypt, Libya, Iran, Qatar, Turkey, ramping up their LNG activities, it is timely that a strategically important & high level summit where gas companies, buyers, pipeline operators, LNG shippers, equipment suppliers, technology providers, fabricators can meet and explore mutually beneficial opportunities. Moreover, the emergence of liquid fuels from unconventional gas such as shale gas, CBM, GTL provide both as a threat as well as a complement to the total energy mix in energy supply security. North Asia, being the world's importer of liquid fuels, stand to benefit from more efficient, supply-secured, and stable LNG prices. With oil prices rising again, stalled offshore and deepwater projects in Asia and Africa have also been revived, energy demand rising and orders for shipyards and equipment suppliers on the increase.
This summit, follows our very successful All Africa Energy Summit 2009 and the West Africa Energy Summit 2008 where key African energy producers deliberated on strategies to promote their gas exports to the key and emerging importing countries in Asia and the West. At these summits, many energy government leaders and senior management of gas producing companies, together with would-be buyers met, and contracts and deals were discussed.
As a follow-up to these summits, The Seoul 2011 Summit aims to take a pragmatic and practical approach to deliberate on strategies on the latest LNG and energy projects, LNG shipping exports and other energy sectors. In addition, regional market leaders from Asia, Africa, Middle East, Russia, Australia, the Carribean, will also furnish succint updates on their regional developments.
At the last two Summits, we were supported by the representation of key seller energy companies from Africa: Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Sao Tome & Principe, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, Mauritania, Libya, Algeria, Sudan, Angola, Egypt, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and Madagascar.
We are expecting more LNG exporting countries, countries with new offshore/deepwater projects from other regions in Asia, Middle East, the Caribbean, at this important summit. Buyers & Gas Users, Offshore equipment buyers and project owners have also been specially invited to grace this summit.
