该电站是澜沧江干流上游“一库七级”开发方案中的第四个梯级电站，共装设4台单机容量35万千瓦的水电机组，总装机容量140万千瓦，由中国电建所属中南院勘测设计，水电一局、水电三局、水电四局、水电七局、水电八局、水电九局、水电十四局、电建路桥公司、华东院、西北院、贵阳院等参与工程建设、监理、监测工作。

工程建设以来，项目大坝建设团队克服地势复杂、工期紧张等困难，安全、优质、高效开展各项工作，采用智能碾压、温控等智能化技术，以主关键线路的大坝工程实现连续5个月平均上升14米、年最大上升126米，刷新了碾压混凝土坝上升速度新纪录，以26.5米长芯样刷新了碾压混凝土重力坝取芯世界纪录，提前一年实现了高质量投产发电，是世界上同类型建设速度最快的大坝。

机电安装团队创造1号机转子提前1个月吊装、核心指标行业领先、机组一次启动成功等战绩。1号机组试运行期间，所有关键指标数据远超国家标准，均达到“精品机组”的要求。

Since the construction of the project, the dam construction team of the project has overcome difficulties such as complex terrain and tight schedule, carried out all work safely, with high quality and high efficiency, adopted intelligent rolling, temperature control and other intelligent technologies, and achieved an average rise of 14 meters for 5 consecutive months and a maximum rise of 126 meters per year for the dam project of the main key line, setting a new record for the rise speed of the RCC dam. The 26.5 meter long core sample has set a new world record for RCC gravity dam cored, and achieved high-quality power generation one year ahead of schedule, making it the fastest dam of its type in the world.

The mechanical and electrical installation team has created a record of lifting the rotor of the No. 1 machine 1 month ahead of schedule, leading the industry in core indicators, and successfully starting the unit once. During the trial operation of Unit 1, all the key indicators far exceeded the national standards and met the requirements of "boutique units".
